When to re-xray?

If you take a CXR to view a newly placed PICC line and need to pull the line back 2 or 3cm, do you get another film to verify placement? Is there a cut off or hard and fast rule for when you need to look at a new CXR for verification? What are our legal liabilities for not getting a second film after pulling it back? This is another debate that has come up recently. I would appreciate any input from this forum. Thank you!

 Your final chest xray should

Your final chest xray should document the PICC to be correctly positioned. So any repositioning would require a repeat xray, although this could bring up concerns about radiation exposure and added costs. thiis is a benefit of ECG tip location Lynn
