Wondering what everyone uses for visualizing veins for peripheral IV access?
One of the nurses in our emergency department asked if there were other devices than U/S, wee sight and our trans illuminators. I told I would ask around and get her some info.
Thanks!
WeeSight is a transilluminator so I am not sure what other transilluminator device you are using. WeeSight is a visible light device as are most other transilluminator. They don't work very well on adult arms and thick tissue and deep veins. US works great for very deep veins. Near infrared light devices are available and work well to identify superifical veins that can not be seen or palpated. There are about 5 different devices on the US market now. Lynn
