Using endcaps
When connecting IV tubing to central lines what do people out there do.  Do you connect directly to the line or use an endcap with a running iv?  Thanks

We use an end cap in all

We use an end cap in all scenarios, with a running IV and when there is intermittent therapy only.

I strongly recommend that

I strongly recommend that all continuous tubing to luer locked hub to hub without the use of any injection port of any kind in between. I am curious to know why you think the use of these caps are necessary for a continuous infusion. Lynn

I lost the battle for using

I lost the battle for using endcaps only for intermittent infusions years ago.  For some reason, "they" thought it was too confusing to do this.  "They" thought it made more sense to teach an endcap on every lumen on any CVC.

I think they should be only on patients that have intermittent medications.  Hub to hub makes the most sense if there are continuous medications or infusions.
