Our pediatric facility is updating our clinical standard on treatment of infiltrates and extravasations in the pediatric patient. I would appreciate any feedback on the following questions including references and evidence to guide this practice. 1. What age groups do you utilize cold packs in treatment? 2. Is the cold pack applied pre or post hyaluronidase treatment? 3. What length of time do you recommend to apply the cold pack for effectiveness? Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Please see the INS Standard 46 Infiltration and Extravasation, with 25 references listed. I don't recall these studies going to the level of detail as your questions. What is included in the Standards does address what was found for pediatrics. Lynn
