Subq Infusion Device

I'm wondering if anyone would share what you use for subq infusion devices that are FDA approved for this use and can be used for IV infusions.  I'm finding that some use devices but the manufacturer tells me that the device is only for intravenous access or I find devices that are just for diabetic pumps.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I am confused by your question. A device designed for SC infusion would not be used for an IV infusion. An SC device is usually a short beveled needle extending at a right angle from the adhesive platform. No way it could be used for an IV infusion. SEveral brands of SC devices are available and can be found through a Google search. For many years, straight needles less than 1 inch long, winged needles like butterfly sets, and short plastic IV catheters have been used for SC infusions. See IV equipment chapter and chapter on SC infusion in INS textbook. INS standards now state that a winged needle is not recommended. Lynn

I am guessing you are looking for pumps not needles

We use the Freedom 60 by RMS medical (they have more than one pump) for SubQ and IV products (esp. for children) I have heard others say they use other pumps like the CADD Solice VIP
