Hi group-- I had an educator from a NICU/PedICU ask me about doing tubing changes using sterile technique. Some of her nurses insist they need mask and sterile gloves to change tubing, some even use a cap and gown with mask and sterile gloves to change the tubing sets for central lines in their neonatal and pedicatric patients. I have not been able to find any literature or texts that support this practice, but I have seen some policies at other peds hospitals that do. Is there any literature or texts that support this? Thanks for your help.
