You may need to consult a wound care nurse depending on how severe this is. It is probably not an allergy but there are numerous problems caused by medical adhesives. You may have to use a product like duoderm and secure outside of this on healthy skin. There is a growing amount of info available on medical adhesive related skin injury. MARSI. Prevention means always using skin barrier solution and ensuring all solutions are thoroughly dry before applying any adhesive device.
Make certain all products are used according to instructions, CHG is completely dry, skin is fully extended when the dressing is applied, skin preps are completely dry. FYI, there is a dressing that does not recommend skin prep prior to dressing placement. Preps are not contraindicated just not necessarily needed. The proprietary adhesive is gentler on the skin, not to claim it won't cause skin injury, but not as likely.
At our facility we continue to use Statlocks but use Mepilex Ag if contact dermatitis is present. If just blistery, then regular Mepilex. It has a silicone-based adhesive that never peels skin and can stay on 3 or more days btwn dressings. Bonus is it is very absorbent so if skin is weepy, it keeps skin from maceration.
