my facility is going with Bard for products, PICCs and US machine. our current US machine Sonosite allows us to measure the vessel to ensure the PICC will fit safely. we document these measurements in the medical record. now that we will be using SiteRite 6 I was told it does not have measuring capability and we are to "eyeball" it/assess the diameter using the tool on the side of the screen. I just want to get an opinion on how we should document that. For example, "vessel was assessed and was found appropriate for size of 5 french catheter?"
any recommendations will be helpful!
