Sherlock and pacer
When placing a PICC  on the same side as a pacer  (with MD permission when there is no other choice), is it possible that the pacer wires interfere with the tip finder?  I was getting all kinds of weird configurations on sherlock and was convinced my PICC was God knows where, yet it ended up beautifully right in SVC.

The pacer wire is coted and I don't have any negative experience with pacer and sherlock.

   It is possible, but not

It is possible, but not likely.  However, there are several other things that can cause magnetic interference with Sherlock.  It has been very aggravating at times, especially when you cannot figure out what is causing it. I have found that when it happens, it sometimes helps to recalibrate and start over if you can.

I find that sometimes the Sherlock works when the patient has a pacer, and sometimes it doesn't.  If the Sherlock doesn't say IJ, I put on the dressing and get an CXR.

Have you read the Sherlock Instrucions for Use?  I thought it said not to use the Sherlock in the presence of a pacemaker.
