Do not do it!! Ever!!! There
Do not do it!! Ever!!! There are no studies supporting this practice. You are altering the catheter tip integrity. The catheter is labeled as a PICC but it is actually a midline location - opens the door for lots of liability if it is used as a central line. The nurse and hospital would bear the entire legal liability because the manufacturer would be removed since you have altered the line. So just don't do it! Lynn

I just found the other earlier post and replies about this - thank you, Lynn and others, and apologies for re-asking.  Might be a good thing to have posted more than once, anyway.
