As we know, picc tips should be located in the lower SVC?  If a power picc tip is not low in the SVC should the picc be repositioned? Could the tip of the power picc flip out of  the SVC during the power injection if the tip is not low? Thank you for your help.Jean

Yes, the PICC should be repositioned, however, it really depends on what meds the patient is receiving. For example, if pt on TPN, chemo, continuous vessicant the PICC should be changed over wire and cut longer. If pt only on prn pain meds, timed abx, etc..., the PICC may not have to be changed. This would be on an individual basis. Yes, the PICC can migrate out of the SVC if it is not long enough.
