We recently had an order for PRN hydration via chest port, with the port remaining accessed between infusions - usually 1-2 days.
This led to a discussion about how often to flush the accessed port, if at all.
The port was flushed with heparin when the hydration completed. Do we need to flush the accessed port on "days off" or not??
I would think not.
