Are there any recommendations from INS referring to dwell time of a PIV.
I understand that if it is patent and no complications it may be able to stay in for 7 days?
The INS Standard is to remove ALL VADs, including short PIVs when clinically indicated. there is no maximum or optimal dwell time for any VAD. See INS Standard on VAD Removal. Not sure where you got the max of 7 days but that does not apply. Lynn
