picc placement high dose thrombolytics

Should a PICC be placed in a patient who has an arterial lysis and is actively receiving high dose tPA and heparin?  It is safer to place a peripheral PICC instead of a jugular or sublavian CVL.  Should this be a criteria for IR to do?  And why?

What is "high-dose tPA"? Need

What is "high-dose tPA"? Need more information as this drug is not given as a continuous infusion over prolonged periods. Heparin is not an issue for PICC insertion. When bleeding is an issue, a PICC insertion in the upper arm is considered much safer than the IJ or subclavian because direct pressure can be applied to the upper arm and not the other sites. There is really not information in your message about the patient, therapy, etc to assess the safest place for insertion.
