Does anyone have a picture of a CVAD insertion cart that you would be willing to share with me? Do you move this cart to the patient or bring the patient to a treatment room where this cart is located? I also think that Joint Commission requires carts such as this to be locked. Can someone confirm this for me? Last but so important is who is responsible for cleaning these carts and on what frequency?
Thanks, Lynn
I have pictures of the ultrasound machine and equipment we take to the bedside but do not see on here where I can attach a file. Our cart does not lock so we do not leave it unattended. We take it to the bedside for insertions. There is enough room for 3-4 insertion kits, gel, gloves, needleless connectors, BioPatches, probe covers, extra mini-stick kits, and all kinds of odds and ends. We take everything out and clean it up about once a month; otherwise wipe the top and sides down with each use with the Bleach wipes or cleaning wipes that come in the round buckets that look like baby wipes.
If I can figure out how to attach a file I will attach about four pics here. I am looking for the paperclip icon and do not see it.

Thanks! I am not certain how to do it either. I checked the Gallery section and did not find it there either. Oh wait, just found it. The icon that looks like a postcard or letter about half way across the set of icons just above this section. Lynn

Hi Lynn,
We customized a couple of Metro Flexline carts to work for us. We went with the key locks rather than touchpad D/T battery life. We also added articultaing arms to support the ultrasounds. They easily carry enough supplies for CVC, artline & picc insertions. We do 100% of our lines bedside, so we take the cart with us. The smaller cart on the left is our dressing change and "difficult PIV" cart which doesn't leave our sight. The carts are to be put away clean at the end of each shift. We also have a monthly cart cleaning schedule to get into the corners of the drawers and to check for expired supplies.
Thanks! This is very helpful. Lynn

Here's a little closer look at the drawers & compartments. The articulating arm allows us to park the cart anywhere around the bed while still able to bring the US screen to where we want it.
