Is there any reason at all the acronym OPAL would not apply to all vascular devices, not just pivs?

Thanks for asking about my coined acronym. My original poster did not specify the VAD, so I do think it could be applied to both. In case others don't know, this is

O-observe the site, adminstration system

P-palpate site, most commonly through an intact dressing

A - aspirate for a blood return and flush the line

L - listen to what the patient is telling you about how it feels

Thank YOU!  I use OPAL to teach piv assessment and would like to apply for a thorough central line assessment.  This is a nice tool for standardization.
