I know everyone has talked about 1 attempt per needle and 1 catheter per attempt? We have been doing that but we run into a question as to whether or not we need a new wire every time? Occasionally we have 1 attempt in a vein that is unsuccessful and the wire has been tried in the vein. Our max barrier kit contains two needles. If we switch arms we always get a new wire but if we are making a second attempt on the same arm do we need a new wire as well? Wondering what other facilities do?
