Hello, Our PICU has a robust cardiac program which includes a fair number of neonates. Our neonates often have PICC's, either 2fr single or 2fr dual lumen. So my questions for you experts are do you add heparin to IV fluids running through single as well as dual lumen PICC's? and at what rate do you run the fluids if TKO.

INS Standard on Flushing and Locking state, "continuous infusion fo heparin 0.5 units per kg for all CVADs in neonates". Arterial lines are higher dose for neonates. Both lumens would need same infusion to maintain patency.
