I'm hoping to find some other hospitals who have inclusion and exclusion criteria based on medications for midline insertions. We get a lot of requests from ICU's and these patients tend to be on meds our hospital policy has determined are vesicants. The research isn't helpful when it comes to the safety of midlines for infusing vesicants or irritants. Please let me know if any of you have specific medication lists that your hospital won't use midlines for.
INS Standard 26 VAD Planning II Midline Catheters is very clear - "Do not use midline catheters for continuous vesicant therapy, parenteral nutiriotn, or infusates with osmolarity greater than 900 mOsm/L." Many critical care infusions would be on this list. Lynn

I do have a list but it is based on the hospital formulary, was extremely labor intensive to prepare, and was a collaborative effort with my pharmacist. your mileage will definitely vary.
