Leaking midline??

I have retired from inserting PICC's and would like some expert opinions.  Because I use to insert PICC's years ago I still get asked to insert difficult IV's throughout the hospital at night.  I was asked to go to ICU one night.  The nurse wanted me to attempt a peripheral IV because the pt.'s midline was leaking alot.  When I arrived the physician said " I ordred an xray of the arm and the midline is fine."  He stated to the pt.'s nurse, not to worry about it leaking some.  I find this troubling and went back to my unit thinking this was not correct.  What are your thoughts?  A midline should never leak?

Thanks in advance

What does leaking fluid look

What does leaking fluid look like? This is not normal no matter whether it looks clear or purulent or serous. This is also the first sign of vein thrombosis which is not seen on a regular xray, requires US to diagnose it. This midline should be removed. What was infusing through it? Very concerned that this patient was in ICU, which could mean anything including vesicants.
