Hello
I have been asked to find references as to why many policies state to discard 5-10ml of blood when drawing from a central line/PICC. Having difficulty finding any articles. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have seen articles on different techniques for re-instilling blood waste ( esp on peds pt), and also on the "push-pull" method. But nothing on suggested volumes for discard. and WHY!
HELP
Thanks in advance!
You can not find anything because there is very little actually published on this issue. Your best resource is the reference in the attached file. Could not paste into the message. Lynn
