Currently our Iv team at a top ten children’s Hospital is doing phlebotomy calls for 80% of their services, when 50% of the nurses have their VA-BC. Therefore we have high Nursing turnover. We also have four patient care techs on our team who place Ivs and our administration does not see the necessity moving forward with vascular access. Anyone have any data collection tools that are not cumbersome that may help our cause. There is a great need for vascular access nurses, but we are not utilized correctly.
