In our electronic medical record, we currently name the vein in which we insert vascular access devices, including PIV's. I have been asked if this is still current and relevant. I don't see any supporting information about this in the newest version of the INS Standards of Practice. I have heard in previous lectures that this was a very good practice, but I can't find anything in print. Any suggestions? Thoughts?
