I am inquiring if there is any facilities that place bedside PICC's and/or outpatient PICC"s that require a nurse hand off before and after a PICC placement. Is there a standard out there? Or can anyone share a policy they have? We recently had a patient have a PEA arrest after a PICC placement and our internal review for all cardiac arrest's is asking if there is any standard out there that has "care of the patient" during or after a PICC procedure.
