In summary, there are no guidelines as a PICC is most likely the safest line to place with elevated INR, low platelets, etc. since you can hold pressure over the insertion site. Wendy is right - there are no guidelines or lab values parameters that would restrict you from placing a PICC. For any condition that increases the risk of bleeding, a PICC is the safest insertion site of all CVADs. Lynn
