Lynn or any one else,
I was recently told that CMS plans to change the CLABSI reporting to CRBSI in FY 2025 thus having hospitals report any Catheter related blood stream infection rather than just those from Central lines. I have not been able to locate any documentationn to support this & wanted to ask if you have heard of this & if so could you point me to some documentation. I know it's something that gets talked about 'as coming' just seeing if it's now here.
Thank you
TM
I just investigated this for a manuscript I was writing. There has been no decision made yet and no projected date as to when this will change. In fiscal year 2023, the 1% of Medicare funds withheld from payments to hospitals was put on hold. For FY2024, which began October 1, 2023, that 1% payment reduction has been reinstated. CMS is still working on this issue and there could be a possible change to reporting all hospital onset bacteremia in the future but no one knows when this will begin.
