Filters to central lines
Our institution states that all central venous acess devices need to have a filter placed on the IV tubing.  I tried to find out the orgin of this policy but was unsuccessful in locating it and can't find it in the Standards of Practice Journal for INS.  Does anybody remember this being a routine practice?  Do we not routinely filter infusions of central access devices any longer unless the pt is receiving TPN or any of the other indicated infusates?  Thanks in advance for any and all responses!
