Can anyone provide identified complications of CVCs placed Femorally. According to 2021 INS Guidelines, placement withith the common iliac veins is considered a malpositioned line. What complications are specific to tip placement within the common iliac veins?
Thank you,

Thrombosis - do a lit search and many articles come up. This standard is based on the medical studies listed which identify the iliac vein as a malposition because it is not a central vein. To be a central vein location from the lower extremity, the tip is in the IVC above the level of the diaphragm.
