ER RN's placing jugular IV's
I have been asked by the ER clinician:

Do you have time to find any information from your resources regarding external jugular access in the ED?

She is appearently training her nurses in the ED to place jugular IV's as needed.  I didn't find anyting in the standards about this.  She said she did research and says that it is in the scope of practice for RN's in NC.  Anybody out there with any direction or input?

INS has a task force working
INS has a task force working on this but I don't know when they are going to release a statement or position paper. You may want to call the office to see if you can learn anything about the timing of this project. Lynn
