D/C'ing CVC with elevated INR

I was wondering if anyone has criteria in their policy on about INR and discontinuation of triple lumen caths. How high is too high?

thanks

I am not aware of any
I am not aware of any guidelines about your question. For removal of a jugular placed CVC, the risk is less because you can put direct pressure on the vein to control any bleeding. For a subclavian site, the clavicle would prevent this direct pressure on the venotomy site, so there is greater risk. I have seen a patient bleeding uncontrollably from a subclavian site after CVC removal and it is not fun to manage! Lynn
