CVP measurement, zeroing the line and non vented cap

Hello,

I was asked by a colleague what to do with the non vented cap used to cap the 3-way stopcock on the transducer for CVP when they perform the zeroing, once a shift.  See yellow cap on image below.

Currently, this cap is not replaced everytime it is disconnected nor are the threads of the 3-way disinfected with alcohol solution upon disconnection.  The lline (and 3-way and cap) is currently changed every 96 hours.

Theory tells me that this is probably (or should I say likely) contaminated but nothing is infused through this port and I wonder if I should tell the nurse to replace the cap every time they do the zero.

Does anyone has a procedure that they would share on the topic?

Thanks a lot,
