CVP and valved piccs

How do you measure CVPs with a valved Picc? Is there some type of device needed to "open" the valve?  And also does it matter what type of NC you use on a valved Picc- positve, neutral, negative?  TIA!

Manufactueres with the valve

Manufactueres with the valve in the extrenal hub have a device to insert so that the valve is held open all the time to allow for CVP measurement. This will not work for the valve at the internal tip though. RE the type of NC, check with the specific catheter manufacturer for their information but I don't think it matters. Studies are now showing the anti-reflux type of NC has the lowest amount of reflux and better outcomes.
