“Selection for membership in the Academy is one of the most prestigious honors in the field of nursing,” said Academy President, Catherine L. Gilliss, DNSc, RN, FAAN.   “Academy Fellows are truly experts.  The Academy Fellowship represents the nation’s top nurse researchers, policymakers, scholars, executives, educators and practitioners.”

Selection criteria for a Fellowship in the Academy includes evidence of significant contributions in nursing and health care.  The new Fellows are selected by a  panel comprised of elected and appointed Fellows.  Selection is based, in part, on the extent to which the nominee’s nursing careers influence health policies and  health care delivery for the benefit of all Americans.    This is the largest class of inductees into the Academy.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer.  The LLS mission is to “Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.”  LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.

Along with currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of AVA, Dr. Haylock has a background in clinical oncology care, including roles as an oncology clinical nurse specialist, enterostomal therapist, oncology product line manager in community hospitals, and as an independent oncology care consultant.

Dr. Haylock received both her bachelor’s of nursing science and her master’s degrees from the University of Iowa College of Nursing, and a doctorate degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Galveston.
