According to INS standard 43 Practice Criteria VII, Arterial monitoring sets are changed every 96hrs as a closed system, including the administration set, flush device and solution, or if the integrety is compromised.
Since it is treated as a closed system, I read that to also mean the catheter is changed at that time. If you only replace the administration set, it is no longer a closed system.
