The question came up when reviewing our IV policy if a vamp with transducer set up on an unused port of a central line could be used for frequent blood draws. Is anyone using this method? Any thought on pros or cons? I do not see any evidence out there.
Thanks!
There has been discussion about this practice on this forum and I am certain that others are using these closed blood withdrawal system on venous and arterial lines. There are some studies on these from the 1990's and I do believe they can offer benefits over the manual methods with a vacutainer or syringe. Lynn
