Do you recommend that ABG's not be drawn from the same arm as the PICC? Quiet often you are limited (shunts, etc...) so you don't always have a choice. If ABG draws are contraindicated from the same arm as the PICC, please send me supporting literature. Thank you for your responses in advance.
ABG should not be contraindicated from same arm as PICC. It is always prefered to be drawn from the other arm. When out of choices we put Brachial vein PICC in an arm that has Brachial Arterial line, so far we have had no problems. Again, it is not recommended, but when you run out of choices...
