Our cardiac unit implemented the Aquadex Ultrafiltration system this winter. We used the 35cm ELC (extended length catheter), which is single lumen. When Aquadex came out with the dELC (double lumen), we tried that. It only comes in a 20cm length though, with tip 1-2cm from shoulder. We find that it contributes significantly to the system slowing down and eventually clotting off.
We are now only placing the 35cm single lumen catheter. We've spoken with Michael Drafz's team, and they also gave up on the dELC.
Is anyone aware of another company that makes a longer ELC for ultrafiltration?
