I would like to know if anyone has converted from the 2% Chlorhexadine (Chloraprep) to the 3% Chlorahexadine (Chlorascrub) for central line care and prep.  We are being asked to evaluated since it is cheaper. It does have the same 70% alcohol content  but does not come in colors.Â
I know the FDA recommends the least percentage of antimicrobial necessary to achieve asepsis.
Do I remember someone writing about increased skin irritation in the past with this increased percentage of chlorhexadine or was that in a dream?  Would appreciate any feedback or resources available.Â
Thanks,
Chris Thomas
