Somewhere, in some reference, I found a recommendation to flush a CVC with 20ml of NS after a blood draw, rather than just 10ml.
The INS flushing protocols recommend 10ml post blood draw.Â

The Company we use for our ports (Bard Access systems) recommend 20 ml of NS after specimen collection. Our facility opted to go with the theory that more is better to clear the lumen. INS does refer you to manufacturers recommendations on a number of procedures
