PICC team volumes

What is the current expectation for the number of PICCs placed per day by an IV team that is available from 7am to 7pm?  Looking for some comparative stats (ie 2 hours/line or 8 PICCs/day).....I feel like I'm running around crazily trying to prioritize patients and place lines without much assessment other than the technical things....thanks

The expectation for our team

The expectation for our team is 6 PICCs in a 10 hour shift. We are given 90 mins per PICC. In this 90 mins we look up pt history, place the PICC and view the chest x-ray(we do read them offically). Some of us have placed as many as 11 PICCs in a 10 hour shift. We work alone no one to set up or clean up, just alot of organization and yes a lot of running. We do not necessarily prioritize them our hospital does not see them as an emergency we place them as the orders come in. (11PICCs in 10hours where all SVC, pt were all ready and informed about the placement) Only if every day could go so smooth!

Thank you for your
Thank you for your feedback!  How many nurses do you have on your team?

We have 4.5 Rns and work

We have 4.5 Rns and work 7-5:30 Mon-Sat. The bedside nurses do the education and give handouts. If the PICC is for home infusion the leaison for the home agency does additional teaching. When a pt is admitted and signs consent for treatment they are also giving consent for central access. We do explain the procedure and the risks and also get verbal consect.

New to this site. First time

New to this site. First time poster. Currently we have 10 full time staff members. We do between 350 to 400 PICC's/month.  Hours are 7a-7p Mon-Sun. Weekends are staffed with only one nurse a day. And M-F 5-7 nurses/day (two being at the children's hospital).
