Allergy to Phisohex

I thought the active ingredient in the original Phisohex product was Chlorhexidine--If my memory is correct.....

Is there a relationship to the current products in use containing CHG?

If so is there a cause for concern if patient has "Allergy to Phisohex"?

How should this be handled?

They are totally different

They are totally different antiseptics. Phisohex is hexachloraphene. Chloraprep and Chlorascrub is chlorhexidine gluconate.  I don't think there is any connection and CHG would be acceptable for someone who is allergic to PHisohex.
