I need education I guess... for a therapeutic phlebotomy... is there a specific lab draw that is required for a specific diagnosis? or, does a ferritin or HCT qualifiy for any diagnosis? I guess I'm asking... what labs do you require and what time frame for a therapuetic phlebotomy?
Thank you! Appreciate this forum!
Please read INS SOP Therapeutic PHleobotomy. HCT are usually very high when this prescribed. The specific volume to be removed must be prescribed - no such thing as 1 unit or some other unspecified amount. Blood is very thick and viscous so flow is very slow.
