Hi, I was wondering if any of the vascular access teams are charging for anitmicrobial locks?
We are currently calculating and administering these locks at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia but are transitioning the administration over to staff RNs.
I you are charging for lock calculation or administration, aside from pharmacy, what CPT code are you using?

Hi Ann Marie, looks like no one is charging for these alternative locks or maybe no one is using them. Capitated fees like DRGs and prearranged insurance contracts don't pay by individual patient charges for inpatients in the adult world. Everything must come out of the capitated fee. Most insurance companies follow Medicare's DRG payments. I doubt anyone has found a method to bill 3rd party payers for this.
