Does everyone print a copy of their ultrasound picture to the chart for permanent record? Does this need to be done to get financial reimbursment from the insurance companies?
I need to clarify: Insurance will still pay for the PICC procedure itself, but if we want to capture the charge for ultrasound guidance, we need the image in the patient record. We make sure the patient name, arm/vein, vein depth and vein diameter are on the image.

We do, and for our facility/state billing compliance, we do need to have the image in the patient's medical record.

In our area, we get $80 per pt (picture).
1300 PICCs/year x $80 = $104,000.
That doesn't include the cost of the ink and paper, but......
