KVO Rates

Hi again.  I am wondering what rate is used for KVO rates for both PIVs and CVCs/PICCs.  When our patients finish their infusions in our outpatient clinics and have an time of observation afterwards (to watch for reactions) what rate should be used? Is a rate of 5 cc/hr fast enough for a PIV or a central line? If you have a specific rate  you use, is there a justification for it such as a hospital policy or some type of emperical evidence? Thank you.
