A nurse in our emergency room has asked me to look into this device, PIVO from Velano vasular . Is anyone out there using this device to draw labs off of already existing peripheral IV catheters? If so, could you give my your opinion.

I am a consultant for this company. There several hospitals from Intermountain Health in the Utah area that have been using PIVO for a long time. There numbers are well into the hundreds of thousands by now. There is also several published studies on outcomes with its use.

I am also looking at the Pivo vascular accessing device for blood draws. How small of an angiocath can this device work?
Currently, it is designed for 20 and 22 g short PIVs I think.
