Is there a standard to use, or not use a needleless connector when connecting a transducer to a CVC for arterial pressure monitoring? We currently do not use the connector and connect directly to the CVC port, but are being challenged by some new hires from other nearby hospitals regarding this practice. I have been unable to find any specific best practice recommendation on the setup.
See statement in INS Standard on Needleless Connectors. Use on any any all continuous infusion is discouraged and they can slow infusion rate.
