PICC Arm Cover

Would anyone have a recommendation for an affordable PICC arm cover? I work in an outpatient infusion center where we manage approx 25 to 30 PICCs for our outpatients recieving long term IV ABX ( 4- 8 weeks). Patients have been using plastic wrap or " press and seal" to cover the PICC dressing when showering but I would like to offer a true PICC cover as a better, more water resisitant alternative.  I would either like to have patients order the arm cover for themselves or I want to negotiate with our gift shop to stock a supply of arm covers for purchase.  I would like to hear of any experince with a commercially purchased arm cover and appreciate your input.

true PICC cover for showering

My company is launching a new product called BedalPatch to the U.S. that provides watertight shielding of the intravenous exit site, even with the IV line connected.

BedalPatch was developed by a cancer patient who lived through the difficulties of showering with an intravenous catheter and he has made it to be inexpensive and easy to use.

We will be offering it to Hospitals as well as directly to patients thru our website.

For now, I am currently supplying nurses/doctors with samples to try.  Please contact me if you would like to sample the product.

ShowerGlove

Showerglove is a very inexpensive alternative and much better than plastic wraps, cutting and taping bags, and all the other tricks nurses have created over the years. It's a newer product from Centurion. Your idea of using the gift shop is excellent!

I an in home care and rural.

I am in home care and rural. We send patients to the Farm Store and have them ask for Calving gloves. These are an arm pit length plastic or rubber glove that are very inexpensive and re-usable. It has gotten to the point that the local one here actually asked the last patient if they had a PICC line. lol.

PICC Cover

Hi,

There are some good products out there for showering, the shield type covers seem to be the most popular. If you are looking for everyday PICC Line management you can try the CareAline PICC Sleeve/Protector. More than happy to send samples.
