Error in JAVA (Catheter Connections)

Lynn Hadaway wrote an article in JAVA based on a thread in this forum about community flush bags using an anti-reflux valve.Â The purpose was to find out if there was any literature to establish this as safe practice.Â There was never any conclusion to this issue.Â However Ms Hadaway chose to write her article stating that the flush bags were NOT using an anti-reflux valve.Â This negated the whole point of the discussion and was a mis-representation of what the thread was about.Â How can one take this forum or JAVA seriously unless this is corrected?Â Certainly not me.

As I stated in my email to you, this thread was the basis for my column but it was not my intend to take your question or my answer verbatim from this discussion board. Any article or column in a journal must address the needs of all the readers. I read the articles and wrote what I thought was appropriate. I would encourage you to locate the articles and read them for yourself. Just because this was written in a manner that was opposite from your original question, I do not think that alone decreases the credibility of the journal or the column, but you have a right to your opinion and also a right to interpret the research for yourself. I am sorry that you feel as

I am sorry that you feel as you do. I do not think that we are snobbish at all. Instead, I think the group of infusion and vascular access nurses that I know are some of the most helpful and giving professionals that I have ever known. Lynn
