Physicians in our area (Southern Oregon) are telling patients that their ports can go 3 months between flushes. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
This has been the recommendation for one of the brands of implanted ports that have an integral valve, although I am not sure if they still have the same instructions for use. I would recommend you learn the specific brand of this port, if possible, and then locate the specific instructions for that brand. If it is a port that does not contain this valve, there is not published evidence, that I know of, evaluating the safety of flushing every 3 months. Lynn
